Pelvic Pain & Pain During Sex

Pain during sex, tampon insertion, or a gynecological exam. A dull ache or sharp pain in your pelvis that shows up throughout the day. Pain that gets worse with sitting, exercise, or after certain activities. If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone, and it's not something you have to quietly manage.

Why it happens. Pelvic pain can come from muscle tension, coordination issues in the pelvic floor, scar tissue, or how your nervous system has learned to respond to pain over time. Often it's a combination of factors, which is why a thorough assessment matters more than guessing at a single cause.

What we'll do together. We start with a conversation and a whole-body assessment to understand what's contributing to your pain. Treatment might include hands-on work, breathing and relaxation techniques, and a home program, always at a pace that feels right to you. An internal assessment can be part of this, but only with your consent.

A couple of quick questions. Will I need an internal exam? Only if you're comfortable with it, and only with your explicit consent. We can make progress with external work too. How long until I feel better? It depends on what's contributing to your pain, and I'll give you an honest sense of that after your first visit.

"When I began physical therapy, I was getting shooting pains through my abdomen, back, hip and bladder. The pain would come quite often, and regularly disrupted my everyday life. Since beginning PT with Jill, the pain has greatly diminished. The twinges are not nearly as strong or frequent, and it continues to get better every visit! Needling, stretching and strength exercises have made a world of difference!"- KG
